History of Twinning: Part 8

Lexington and Deauville wanted to find a way to connect with elementary school students between the two cities.  In 2010, the committees decided to start a Skype program between SCAPA in Lexington and Ecole Fracasse in Deauville.

SCAPA French teacher Bonnie Bachmeyer prepared the Lexington students.  Fourth and fifth grade classes participated.

Ecole Fracasse English teacher Ivan Rouault prepared the Deauville students.

During the Skype sessions, the students introduce themselves in French and English.

They made a powerpoint about "A Day in the Life of a French Student" and "A Day in the life of an American Student".

During one year, students issued "challenges" to each class.  The Deauville students challenged the Lexington students to learn the French alphabet and make a "living" French flag.

The Lexington students challenged the Deauville students to learn Kentucky Derby winners and the year they won.

We look forward to more Skype exchange programs between our cities!
