Elvis in Deauville

Philippe Behuet tells a short story about a 1977 exchange student who was in Lexington at the time of Elvis Presley's death - and the ticket for the concert he still has.

A Short Exchange Story: Elvis in Deauville

In Deauville, we have found tickets for an Elvis concert!

As we commemorate today the 40th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death, we found in Deauville a ticket for the concert he was supposed to play in Lexington.

Olivier Anfry, well known in Deauville as an electrician and also a city counselor, was in Lexington in August 1977.

He was there on a student exchange. He remembers very well the fever in town expecting The King for the concert and also the shock of his death leading to cancel the performance. He had a ticket for this very special event. Every time he hears about Elvis, he associates it with Lexington of course!

The King in 1977.
He also remembers the frenzy of excitement  with the new movie Star Wars.

In short, it was a very hectic and memorable summer for a French student in Lexington.
